Call for Entries: Emotion Pictures, Documentary and Disability 1st International Festival, Athens 2007
The Secretariat General of Communication - Secretariat General of Information, in collaboration with the Greek Film Centre and within the framework of the annual international conference “People with Disabilities and Mass Media” is establishing an annual International Documentary Festival in Athens with documentary films focusing exclusively on issues of disability.
The Festival’s aim is to promote the further awareness, acceptance and integration of disabled people and to encourage film-makers, disabled or not, to take an active interest in this area and address the widest possible public.
The Documentary and Disability: 1st International Festival – Athens 2007will take place in June 2007 in Athens, at the same time as the 2nd International Conference “People with Disabilities and Mass Media”.
The Jury will award the following 5 prizes:
I. First Prize for Best Documentary Film
II. Second Prize for Best Documentary Film
III. Prize for originality and innovative direction
IIII. Prize for technical and artistic merit
IV. Special Jury Prize
All prizes carry a cash award of 20,000 euros, which will be equally shared by producer and director.
Candidates will be selected by the Festival Administration, and all entries must fulfill the following requirements:
- Their content must be strictly on the subject of disability.
- There should be no prior Greek television broadcast of entries or prior release on video or/and DVD in Greece.
- Their production date must be after 01/01/2004.
- They must be available in Digital Beta for the official screening.
- They should be available in an English version (subtitled or dubbed).
- Limit of one entry per director.
Interested filmmakers are requested to submit the attached entry form, also available on the website of the festival (www.ameamedia.gr).
Along with the entry form, candidates are requested to submit a copy of the documentary film in DVD format. Entry forms must be signed by both producer and director of the documentary.
Participants are also requested to provide the following, in a digital format:
A synopsis of the documentary in Greek or in English.
At least two still photos in print quality from the film and one photo of the film director.
The dialogue list or narration in Greek (for documentaries filmed in Greek) or in English (for documentaries filmed in languages other than Greek).

Entries should be clearly marked: for non-commercial use.
Confirmation of receipt of entries will be sent by email.
Entry submission costs (postage/ courier) are borne by the entrant, while insurance costs (storage of documentary copies at Festival’s headquarters) are borne by the Festival.
The Festival reserves the right to keep in its archive submitted film copies, as well as screen them for non-commercial purposes (e.g. at schools), with the proviso of prior notification of their director and producer.
The Festival maintains the right to use photos and screen excerpts (up to 3 minutes long) in order to promote the film and the Festival.
Participants agree that the selected documentaries will be subtitled in Greek by Festival organizers.
Entries cannot be withdrawn from the Festival following their selection.
Completion and signature of the entry form indicates the applicants’ consent to the Festival rules and regulations.
