Scholarships Available for Summer Theatre Workshops, USA

National Theatre Workshop of the Handicapped(NTWH):
For twenty-five years NTWH has been giving people's with disabilities the highest level of training in the theater arts. In 1998 we opened NTWH-Crosby, our fully accessible residential school in Belfast, Maine where we offer workshops in the performing and fine arts.

We are currently looking for persons with disabilities to offer opportunities to come to one of our workshops this upcoming summer at NTWH -Crosby. NTWH is located four blocks from Penobscot Bay. Every day is balanced by both academics and recreational outdoor/cultural activities. Scholarships are available. The dates for those workshops are as follows:

Fine Arts - Session I: May 17 - June 3
Intro to Theatre - Session I: June 9 - June 19
Intro to Theatre - Session II: June 22 - July 3
Chorale Workshop: August 9 - August 24
Fine Arts - Session II: September 25 - October 12

Opportunities in the Arts
There is an amazing school located in Belfast that just might be right for you. Belfast Maine, USA. This school is NTWH and students with physical disabilities take extensive classes in the performing and fine arts. Their student body comes from all over the U.S., the United Kingdom, Canada, Ecuador, Columbia and even South Korea. Currently, NTWH is accepting applications for their workshops offered in 2001. These workshops in theatre arts, choral singing and fine arts run from May through October.

NTWH also just opened up a fully accessible baking school where you can learn to become a professional baker.

Scholarships are available for all programs.

NTWH was founded in 1977 by Brother Rick Curry S.J. Last year, NTWH was featured on 60 Minutes and in People Magazine, USA Today and The New York Times. In 1999 NTWH produced an original play which was written and performed by one of their students, John Siciliano. This full length production with six actors ran two and a half months in New York City and then traveled to Los Angeles. NTWH is dedicated to offering persons with physical disabilities total access the arts.
