New Disability Point Person at the White House
The White House shares the following announcement about
Tracy Justesen becoming Associate Director for the White
House Domestic Policy Council:
Tracy R. Justesen recently joined the White House staff as
Associate Director for the Domestic Policy Council. Tracy
will handle the President's New Freedom Initiative and
issues important to individuals with disabilities. He
comes to the White House after serving as an Attorney in
the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. He
served as a technical advisor to the President's Commission
on Excellence in Special Education and as the President and
Chief Executive Officer of one of the nation's premier
centers for independent living.
Tracy will return to his position as an attorney with the
Department of Justice upon completion of this assignment to
the White House.
He holds a Master of Science in Education, a Juris
Doctorate, and an LL.M. in international law with a focus
on civil rights issues affecting individuals with
disabilities. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate for his
