Overcoming Barriers (Superando Barreras)

This is to inform that starting April 20th, Federico Montero, a disabled physician and a member of the Forum on Human Rights for People with Disabilities, is conducting a radio program in a FM Costa Rican radio station. The name of the program is "Overcoming Barriers" ("Superando Barreras") and it intends to contribute to change the prejudices and wrong ideas regarding disability and people with disabilities and to put more pressure on the real implementation of the Costa Rican disability law that was by the Congress in april 1996. The program will include many issues regarding disability.

I would also like to inform that disability organizations from Costa Rica are planning a big march for june 1st, to demand the implementation of the Law for Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities (# 7600) apporved by the Costa Rican Congress in april 1996.

Forum on Human Rights for People with Disabilities organized with great succes on march 10, a Workshop on Human Rights, with participation of more that 80 disabled persons.

Forum on Human Rights for People with Disabilities organized with great succes on april 28th, a Workshop on Ways to influence the media (Taller de Incidencia) with the contribution of an expert from the Central American Confederation on Human Rights.
