The World Bank is Looking For A Full-time Disability Advisor
People with disabilities in developing countries are disproportionately represented among the poorest of the poor. In order to accelerate the infusion of concerns about poor people with disabilities into the World Bank's mainstream poverty alleviation efforts and to continue to encourage disability-specific activities, the Bank is creating a full-time Disability Advisor position. The scope of the position covers all aspects of work on disability in the World Bank, including social protection, education, labor, health, communications, transport, gender and post-conflict recovery.
The Bank is looking for a well-qualified individual whose professional credentials are complemented by personal experience with disability. The position requires a minimum 10 years of relevant work experience and recognized and respected expertise on the topics of economic development and poverty reduction in developing countries; human development, particularly disability and development; and knowledge management. Qualified applicants will hold an advanced degree (M.A./M.S.) or equivalent in economics or another social science; Ph.D. preferred.
