Website on International Exchange Opportunities Adds Searchable Database
Finding information about international opportunities just became easier for people with disabilities who want to explore the world. Mobility International USA (MIUSA) has added a searchable database to its extensive website. Search for:
-
Language and homestay programs in Latin America, Europe or Asia
-
Semester or year education abroad programs any where in the world
-
Short-term work abroad programs and international internships in a variety of fields
-
Teaching opportunities at primary, secondary and post-secondary levels worldwide
-
Overseas volunteer opportunities in public health, youth development, environment and many other fields
With 100 exchange organizations listed to over 70 countries, visitors to the website are bound to find overseas programs that fit their interests. Each entry includes the program contact information, program description, organizational experience or philosophy on including participants with disabilities, and a link to the program's website to learn more.
Additionally, over 175 disability organizations worldwide are listed in the online database. This continually expanding database can be searched by region, country and disability type. These could be useful for learning about local accessible transportation, sign language interpreters and other disability-related resources, finding volunteer or networking opportunities or creating a unique exchange program with a disability organization abroad.
Log on to MIUSA's home page and click on "Disability & International Exchange Professionals" or "Students, Volunteers & Individuals." Scroll down the options to find "International Exchange Programs Database" and/or "Disability Organizations Worldwide Database." See what new worlds will open to you at www.miusa.org!
This database is created by the National Clearinghouse on Disability and Exchange (NCDE), managed by Mobility International USA and sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. MIUSA celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
