Forthcoming Film, Theater & Culture Festivals 2002-2003

There are an unusual number of disability film, theater and cultural festivals taking place over the next year. There are others in the planning stage for the European Year of People with Disabilities, but following are the ones that have finalized their dates and deadlines.

Picture This Festival & associated workshops and events, Ft. Calgary, Canada, October 17-19, 2002. Canada's second disability film festival and they have entries lined up from Armenia to Australia. Check out the list on their website: www.picturethisfestival.org

7th Deaf Film and TV Festival & associated workshops, London, U.K., November 15-17, 2002. Organized by British Deaf Association in collaboration with Channel 4. Email: Lucyf@bda.org.uk

2nd annual International Festival of Cinema for the Deaf, Chicago, February 27-March 3, 2003. Organized by Chicago Institute for the Moving Image. Details: www.cinemaforthedeaf.org

KynnysKINO4, a Finnish international disability film and video festival, Helsinki, April 10-13, 2003. Theme is "Home Sweet Home;" entries until January 15 are invited from film and video makers with personal experiences of disability. Details: Jaana.arvisto@kynnys.fi

5th International Disability Film Festival of the London Disability Arts Forum, London, U.K., June 2003. Deadline for entries: January 31. Details: www.ldaf.net

Superfest, the annual international disability film festival held in California for the last two decades, will take place in Berkeley on an early June weekend. Deadlines for entries are in January. Details: grooverlee@aol.com
