Short-Term Consultant for Evaluation of Guyana CBR programme
AIFO (Amici di Raoul Follereau) an international NGO based in Bologna (Italy) and supports projects dealing with leprosy, primary health care and community-based rehabilitation (CBR) in 34 countries in Asia, Africa and South America. AIFO is in official relationship with World Health Organisation (WHO) and collaborates with Disability & Rehabilitation unit of WHO for the CBR programmes.
AIFO is looking for a short term consultant for two weeks in second half of November or early December 2002 for evaluation of Guyana CBR project. The evaluation will be carried out by two persons - a Guyanese consultant, who will carry out a participatory evaluation of the CBR committees and groups in different parts of Guyana over a period of two months; an external consultant for two weeks to evaluate the activities at national level in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana. This announcement relates only to the external consultant for two weeks period.
Work will involve:
Understanding and discussing the functioning of national CBR committee, the usefulness of a training programme for rehabilitation assistants and of a vocational training centre. Before the end of the two weeks, the two consultants (Guyanese consultant and external consultant) will need to prepare a joint briefing with the main partners of the project - Guyana CBR committee and Ministry of Health. Each consultant is expected to prepare a written report about the evaluation within one month of the evaluation.
Profile:
A person with experience of participatory development methodologies in some developing country. Proficiency in written and oral English is compulsory. Previous experience in CBR programmes and evaluation of community-based activities is preferable but not compulsory.
