Society for Disability Studies Announces Deadlines for Awards & Papers

Contributions are invited for the Irving K. Zola Award for Emerging Scholars in Disability Studies and are due November 15. Prof. Zola of Brandeis University was the founding president of SDS in the late 1980s. Original contributions on a topic relevant to disability studies, not previously published and not exceeding 30 pages, must be emailed as Word attachments to both the following addresses: jholst2@uic.edu and cg16@uic.edu with "Irving K. Zola Award" in the subject line. If email is not available, send 5 hard copies to: Judy Holst, c/o SDS, University of Illinois at Chicago, 1640 W. A Call for Papers has been issued for the SDS 17th annual conference, June 3-6, 2004 in St. Louis, Missouri and the deadline is December 15.¾ A full description of the conference theme and program is available on the SDS website: www.uic.edu/orgs/sds Abstracts of 250 words are requested for proposals of all formats of presentations including papers, panel sessions, workshops & presentations (video, performance, literary reading). Proposals can be sent electronically to Judy Holst (jholst2@uic.edu) and Carol Gill (cg16@uic.edu) or mailed to Judy Holst (address above) or faxed to: 312 996 7743.

Information about the SDS journal, the Disability Studies Quarterly, is also on the website, together with the announcement of the two new co-editors, Beth Haller and Corinne Kirchner.
