A new line of "Disability Pride" products has been developed by Sarah Triano, a recent recipient of an AADP Paul Hearne Leadership Award, with Dan Wilkins of The Nth Degree, as part of her National Disability Pride Tour. Where There Is No Psychiatrist: A mental health care manual
This book is a practical manual of mental health care for the community health worker, the primary care nurse, the social worker and the primary care doctor, particularly in developing countries. The book gives the reader a basic understanding of mental illness, describing more than 30 clinical problems associated with mental illness and containing 150 illustrations and case studies, including a refugee camp, a school health program and a program for people with AIDS, as well as mental health promotion. A problem-solving approach guides the reader through assessment, management, and the use of psychiatric medicines and simple psychological treatments. Resources are included with reference information for common problems, information on voluntary agencies, the names and costs of medicines and words in local languages for emotional symptoms.
