Breaking Barriers Award - And the winners are...
For the occasion of the European Day of Disabled People 2001, the European Commission in collaboration with the European Disability Forum has inviting organisations to take part in a Design for all competition that rewards the commitment of these organisations to people with disabilities as consumers. More specifically, the Commission and the EDF wish to reward organisations that have developed products, services, systems or environments that follow the Design for All approach. The award will also highlight the corporate social responsibility organisations have demonstrated in doing so.
Some 54 organisations from all over Europe have submitted 80 entries for the Breaking Barrier Awards. The Jury has selected 38 nominees for the 3 categories of the award. Over 1200 people have also voted for the e-user award. The winners of the award were announced during the Award ceremony in Brussels on 3rd December 2001.
