Breaking Down Barriers
Perspektiva, a Russian Disability Organization, together with the Moscow City Hall, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and the World Institute on Disability invites you to participate in the first Russian International Disability Film Festival "Breaking Down Barriers" to take place in Moscow, late September, 2002.
Eligibility requirements
All works submitted for MOSFEST should portray a disability issue. We encourage films that have been produced by and with the participation of persons with disabilities. Public service announcements are also welcome.
All works must have been produced by January 1, 1995.
All works intended for competition must be postmarked by April 15, 2002.
Entry fees: Public service announcements: $15
30 minutes or less: $50
Over 30 minutes: $75
Discounts: Russian or NIS producers: $25 or low budget films (less than $10,000). Discount on the basis of poverty may also be negotiated if the organizers find justification.
Workshops
We are also seeking persons with established expertise to lead workshops on such topics as: "Changing Attitudes through Film," "the Impact of Film on Society," "The Image of People with Disabilities in Film,"and "Films concerning Disabled Children." We welcome your suggestions on other workshop topics. Festival organizers will cover the cost of local food and accommodations for workshop leaders and will assist them to obtain free airfare. The workshops will be sponsored by Rehabilitation International and the World Institute on Disability as an activity of their grant, the International Disability Exchanges and Studies (IDEAS)2000-2004.
