Spain: offers JAWS Program in Spanish

The Research, Development and usage Center, of the National Organization of the Blind of Spain (Centro de Investigación, Desarrollo y Aplicación de la Organización Nacional de Ciegos de España CIDAT-ONCE), announced the new BETA-1 of JAWS 4.02 in Spanish.
This program, a valuable communication tool for Spanish speaking blind persons, was
developed by the Research, Development and Usage Center, CIDAT-ONCE.
This is the first beta version of the JAWS 4.02 in Spanish, which may be enjoyed by authorized users or on a demonstration basis for 40 minutes each time for trail users.
This demonstration version is available at CIDAT's ONCE web site: http://www.once.es/cidat. It is still a beta with known errors and other ones found when user performs the beta-testing.
It is possible that other beta versions will come out before the final 4.02 commercial version that is why it is provided in CD-ROM.
These are among the advantages offered by this new version with respect to the earlier 3.7x family:
- Braille lines have were greatly improved, much faster.
- JAWS 4.02 works with Windows XP Home and Professional editions. Windows 9x authorized versions are good for the Home edition Home and NT authorizations are good for XP Professional.
- It shows more than 256 colors in NT, 2000 y XP: This operating systems allows you to work with 16, 24 y 32 color bits.
- Deactivating special effects: In order for JAWS to be more efficient in Windows, particularly in XP, such special effects may be deactivated such as animated menus, shadow pointer, etc. These effects may be activated when JAWS is reloaded. You may select the special effects that you do not wish to deactivate.
- New video interceptor: Compatible with more video cards and may be uninstalled without installing JAWS. These characteristics make it compatible with the new DVD systems.
- Announces fast HTML fast keys.
- You may go up or down or move the pointer with left or right arrow keys while executing a total text read command.
- New scripts in Spanish: Includes those found in the latest MS-Messenger version and substantial improvements in CONTA-PLUS y NOMINA-PLUS scripts.
- New frame visualizer: These are easier to use and provided a better definition.
