"To provide persons with disabilities the tools they need to live with dignity", is the objective of the Asociación Antorcha de Nicaragua, which started the operations of its Mop from "lampazo" Manufacturing Work Shop.

The project seeks to offer and opportunity to teach work skills and income generation facilities for young persons with diverse disabilities who want to lean and become productive.

The organizers of the course told us: "the training stage lasts three weeks, yet additional support is always provided to students who need it." Now students are making "lampazo" mops, to acquire work skills and as a source of a small income.

This Nicaraguan Association is interviewing and selecting young persons with disabilities with the motivation to learn and earn some money. María del Carmen, member of the Board of Directors said: "Persons with mental retardation and Down's Syndrome are able to learn, they may need more initial attention, but the results are very good."
