Learning Dis/Abilities and Disability Studies in Education
Position: Faculty member to conduct research and prepare the next
generation of teachers and scholars in LD and Disability Studies, help
shape public policy, and improve practice in educational institutions,
especially in urban and inner city schools.
Responsibilities: Teach in the programs in learning dis/abilities and
disability studies; advise masters and doctoral students; collaborate with
general educators; engage in scholarly inquiry; provide service to
academic and education community; work in conjunction with other educators
in reexamining and refining teacher education programs and professional
development school projects.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate, strong background and experience in
Learning Dis/abilities and Disability Studies, and record or promise of
scholarly inquiry and publication required. Interest in the politics of
assessment and intervention for students with LD and others who are low
achieving desirable. Demonstrated capacity to conduct programmatic
research in this domain, particularly as that research relates to students
in urban and inner city schools. Commitment to pluralism essential.
