Nepal Disabled Women Society (Edited by Yukari Baba, World Institute on Disability)
The Nepal Disabled Women Society (NDSW) was established in 1994 by a group of women with disabilities in Nepal as an advocacy organization for disabled women and female children. NDWS's primary goals are to rehabilitate and protect the rights of disabled women politically, socially, and economically and to provide support for their activities and interests. NDWS has 5 branch offices in 5 districts in Nepal, and each office offers a variety of activities and programs including organizing meetings, trainings, workshops, and seminars. The organization also conducts research on the various disabilities of women in Nepal including visual and hearing impairments, physical and mobility disabilities, and cognitive and developmental disabilities. NDWS provides a range of free vocational training programs including computer and information technology, receptionist and office skills, and tailoring as well as programs in community based rehabilitation, English, and sign language. The organization also published a newsmagazine, Disabled Voice. Founded in 1993, Women for Women International is a $5.5 million international not-for-profit that provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with tools and resources needed to move from crisis and poverty to self-sufficiency. Headquartered in Washington D.C., the organization offers programs in Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Rwanda, Nigeria and Columbia. Position Summary:
The Director of Development & Marketing leads WFWI's national and international fundraising efforts, including building and sustaining a major donor program through identification, cultivation and solicitation of individuals; enhancing institutional funding capacity through foundations and government grants; managing direct mail program; overseeing the recruitment, cultivation and upgrade of sponsors; maintaining and upgrading current 40,000 base; and, organizing fundraising and cultivation events. The Director also oversees marketing and public relations, including external communications and national/international media relations.

Reporting to the COO and working closely with the President and Board of Directors, the Director of provides overall leadership, direction and administration of development and marketing strategies, and helps maintain and expand a strong financial base by securing diverse fundraising sources. A member of the leadership team with a staff of 7+, the Director creates and implements comprehensive long- and short-term fundraising and promotional plans.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Identify broad community of donor prospects interested in human rights and the dignity of women and build a major individual giving program.
  • Work closely with President and other members of the Board of Directors to identify, recruit, mobilize, train and support board to raise funds on behalf of the organization.
  • Oversee grant activities, including finding new sources of support, writing proposals and reports, and collaborating with volunteers and staff to build relationships with foundations.
  • Design, direct and strategically position all fundraising events and projects to raise money effectively and efficiently. Work with volunteer leadership to identify and secure opportunities.
  • Guide WFWI in marketing its mission and programs by shaping the message to generate significant financial support, ensuring quality of all communications materials such as publications, grant proposals, and website.
  • Oversee department's annual budget, achieving and analyzing revenue goals and managing expenditures.
  • Recruit, lead, train and supervise development and marketing staff. Encourage performance-based evaluations that tie individual goals to organizational strategy.
  • Work closely with Director of Programs Operations to incorporate program development into fundraising strategies and with Director of Finance & Administration on annual and monthly revenue goals and expectations.
  • Oversee donor database, and tracking and acknowledgment of gifts.
Qualifications:
An energetic, dynamic manager with an established track record of instituting successful fundraising & communications programs in a fast-paced environment, with particular emphasis on securing major gifts from individuals and foundations, working with Boards and volunteers, and building relationships with diverse constituencies. A self-starter who is strategic, detail-oriented and flexible with superb written and verbal communications skills, integrity, compassion, and a strong work ethic. An intelligent global thinker who is able to connect with the mission.

Society for Disabled Women in Pakistan
The Society for Disabled Women, an alliance to fight poverty, discrimination and injustice faced women with disabilities, is actively working to develop a national level platform for disabled women and to promote disability awareness in Pakistan. The Society for Disabled Women is committed to providing support for women to acquire skills and training, to achieve economic self-sufficiency, and to gain recognition of disabled women in society. The Society is also working to develop a resource center that will offer information and assistance for alleviating poverty and illness and include programs for health education, literacy, and vocational skills development.
