World Congress on Inclusion by Design: Planning the Barrier-Free World

From June 1-5, 2001, The Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work is hosting a World Congress on Inclusion by Design: Planning the Barrier-Free World, in Montréal, Canada (Palais des Congrès de Montréal). As well as encouraging barrier-free design, the conference delegates and presenters will look at inclusive policies which can be developed and implemented through government, corporate and community infrastructures.

Approximately 2000 delegates and presenters from around the world will reflect on a range of global issues, experiences and solutions. The conference brings together policy makers, educators, professionals, organizations and individuals who focus on implementing universal design and equal access for all people.

The event will cover three major areas: Inclusive Employment, Inclusive Communities and Developing Universal Access. These areas will cover such topics as the economics of inclusion, accommodation and productivity, transportation, social programs, inclusive legislation and equipment and technology.
