News from the Deaf Community in Spain
DifuSord: a bulletin in Spanish for people with hearing impairments

The Association for the Dissemination within the Deaf Community (ADCS) publishes an electronic news bulletin on its web page: http/www.teleline.terra.es/personal/difusord

Samples of recent reports form the news bulletins: an exclusive interview with Vinton G. Cerf, a hearing impaired American creator (along with Robert Kahn) of the TCP/IP protocol to the Internet, and founder of the Internet Society. Cerf recently visited Tarragona, Spain to inaugurate the first street in the world with the name of the great network, and to receive the title Doctor Honoris Causa by the University Rovira i Virgili. Two days after the meeting, the editors of DifuSord received unexpected news: an e-mail informed them that the father of the internet had made a financial donation to ADCS in order to support projects to eliminate communication barriers for people with hearing impairments.

Violence and Abuse Guide for Hearing Impaired Women
The Women's Commission of the National Confederation for People with Hearing Impairments in Spain has published a guide for hearing impaired women who may have been involved in some type of violence and/or abuse. This project is part of a campaign to reach the community of people with hearing impairments, and community, and other organisms involved in society's response to domestic violence. At the same time, there is also a plan of action concerning domestic violence which tries to provide answers to the needs of hearing impaired women.
