Announcements from Gladnet:

Mental Health & the Workplace

Our colleagues at the ILO have organized a presentation at ILO headquarters on October 10, 2000, Salle II, from 4 - 6 PM to mark World Mental Health Day. Please see the announcement on the GLADNET website, http://www.gladnet.org/mhealth.jpg

World Mental Health Day was created in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health and is now observed in more than 100 countries each October. It aims to encourage and promote awareness about mental health problems, to challenge negative stereotypes and to give a voice to people's experiences. This year's theme focuses on the workplace. We all have a right to obtain decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security and human dignity. For people with mental health problems, this right is particularly challenging. The importance of work for enhancing the economic and social integration of people with mental health problems will be highlighted this year. Presentations by the ILO, the WHO and the World Federation for Mental Health will be accompanied by the release of a joint WHO/ILO monograph on Mental Health and Work. A reception will follow.
