The U.S. National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research has announced its conference, Disability Studies: A Global Perspective, taking place October 17-18, 2000 at the National Press Club, 529 14th Street, Washington, DC. A reception will be held the evening of October 16, 2000 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Press Club to open the conference.

This International Disability Studies Conference is a milestone event designed to further "Disability Studies" as a unique area of rigorous academic inquiry world-wide. The conference is designed to be participatory and interactive, both on-site and electronically. A preliminary agenda is available.
