Gallaudet University Offers Young Scholars Program
This is the sixteenth consecutive year Gallaudet University has offered the Young Scholars Program for talented and gifted deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17.
This summer three areas of study were offered: environmental science, visual arts, and performing arts.
Gallaudet University's Young Scholars Program (YSP) has recently received some additional funding enabling the program to provide scholarships for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing students between the ages of 14 and 18 to attend this exceptional summer program. In fact, the program is offering a 2 for the price of 1 scholarship for students applying from the same school or for students who apply to YSP in tandem. Other financial support packages are also available.
YSP took place June 26 - July 21 on Gallaudet's campus in Washington, DC. This year students can select from 3 challenging courses of study - performing arts, science, and visual arts. Students who successfully complete this summer's performing arts program can apply for future YSP international exchanges. Past exchanges have been with Japan, India, South Africa, and Mexico. This summer a delegation of YSP students, faculty, and staff will conduct a two-week tour of Romania.
