Disabled Women's Group in Georgia Republic

The Georgian Disabled Women's International Association was established in 1998 to: improving the living conditions of disabled women and their ability to conduct independent activities, monitor disabled women's living conditions, protect their rights, increase their involvement in economic and social life, and promote their issues in the mass media.

Presently, the following departments are functioning at the NGO: Monitoring department, Training department, Public Relations Service, Projects Design service, Department of Psychological Care, Job Opportunities Department, Department for the Rehabilitation of Creative Skills and the Department of International Collaboration. The strategy of the Georgian Disabled Women's International Association includes setting up a strong network with local governmental and non-governmental organizations, and with similar NGOs abroad, participating in exchange programs and training seminars.

The Association is also working to create a database on disabled women in Georgia.

Recently, with the financial support of Oxfam, the association implemented the project entitled: "Disabled Women Help Disabled Women", and almost simultaneously the Open Society Georgia Foundation financed the Association's project aiming to set up consultation- information centers in three regions of Georgia (Kaheti, Imereti and Kartly). During the implementation period some initiative groups and NGOs from other regions(Gori,Ozurgeti, Tsinandali, Tsalendzikha and Batumi) joined the project.
