The Brazilian company MicroPower has developed the software Virtual Vision, a screen-reader used by Bradesco Net - Internet Banking for the Visually Impaired. Bradesco is one of the largest banks of Brazil. The product, that currently works with Windows 98 and Office 97, offers good access to the internet with IE 3.02.Tests of IE5 are being finalized and soon the version 2.0 will be launched.
This product was proposed by Microsoft for the Smithsonian Award, and it was mentioned by Bill Gates in his last book. The MicroPower team was in Seattle in 1999, present to Virtual Vision to Steve Ballmer, president of Microsoft. The Managers of Bradesco Bank to Washington DC, also presented the details of the product to the Smithsonian Institute.
The development team of Virtual Vision is working directly with the Director of Accessibility of Microsoft on problems and solutions in this area.
Virtual Vision uses the first synthesizer of high quality in the Portuguese language, called DeltaTalk, also developed by MicroPower. It is adapted for Brazilian and Portuguese keyboards. Virtual Vision Permite Internet Banking a Deficientes Visuais no Brasil
A MicroPower desenvolveu o Virtual Vision (VV), leitor de telas que está dentro do Bradesco Net - Internet Banking para Deficientes Visuais. O Bradesco é um dos maiores bancos do Brasil. O produto, que hoje já funciona com Windows 98 e Office 97, apresenta bom acesso via internet com o IE 3.02. O IE5 está em fase final de teste e, em breve, será lançada a versão 2.0.
Este produto foi indicado pela Microsoft para o Smithsonian Award, e foi mencionado por Bill Gates no seu último livro. A equipe da MicroPower esteve recentemente em Seattle, apresentando o Virtual Vision para Steve Ballmer, atual presidente da Microsoft. Também recente foi a visita da Diretoria do Banco Bradesco a Washington DC, para apresentar os detalhes do produto para o Smithsonian Institute.
A equipe de desenvolvimento do Virtual Vision está trabalhando diretamente com o Diretor de Acessibilidade da Microsoft para solucionar os problemas que eventualmente surgem e agilizar as soluções.
O VV utiliza o primeiro sintetizador de alta qualidade da língua portuguesa, chamado DeltaTalk, também desenvolvido pela MicroPower. O Virtual Vision está adaptado para os teclados do Brasil e de Portugal.
