Disability World Links: Disability Studies
  • Centre for Disability Studies at University of Leeds - An interdisciplinary centre for teaching and research in the field of Disability Studies, dedicated to promotion of international excellence. This site is ground zero for development and defense of the British version of the social model of disability and its archive is a treasure trove of hard to find papers published since 1966.
  • Disability Research Institute - The DRI is a partnership between the U.S. Social Security Admnistration and the College of Applied Life Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with an array of activities including research, dissemination of information, and training and education.
  • Disability Studies and Research Institute - The site of the Australian based Disability Studies and Research Institute, emphasizing research into and education about disability issues from a social perspective.
  • Disability Studies Association - The Disability Studies Association is a network of academics, researchers and activists throughout the UK who share an interest in disability studies. Disability Studies is concerned with the inter-disciplinary development of an increasing body of knowledge and practice, which has arisen from the activities of the disabled people's movement, and which has come to be known as 'the social model of disability'.
  • Disability Studies Conference Archive - Archived papers from the 2003 Disability Studies: Theory, Policy and Practice and 2004 Disability Studies: Putting Theory Into Practice conferences in Lancaster.
  • Disability Studies for Teachers - This website contains lesson plans and materials designed to help teachers integrate disability studies into social studies, history, literature, and related subjects in grades 6-12.  The plans and materials also can be adapted for use in postsecondary education.
  • Disability Studies Quarterly - The site of Disability Studies Quarterly, international journal, issues available online back to Fall 2000 in HTML and PDF formats.
  • European Network on Disability Studies - The site of the European Network on Disability Studies, which hopes to create new opportunities to promote the social inclusion and citizenship of disabled people through communication, meetings, publications, collaborative research and an online knowledge bank.
  • Society for Disability Studies - The web site of the SDS, "a nonprofit scientific and educational organization established to promote interdisciplinary research on humanistic and social scientific aspects of disability and chronic illness."
